The stars were all yellow.

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow

Take a moment and just be. Yes, sit still for two whole minutes and do absolutely nothing. How does it feel? Do you feel overwhelmed? Happy? Peaceful? Whatever your answer may be, good. You took two minutes of your hectic day to perceive how you feel. Why is that such a big deal, you may be asking yourself. Well, we live in such a fast-paced world that no one has the time to sit down and just be. It comes off as either slacking, lazy or unproductive.

However, busy is not always productive, just as peace is not laziness. The only way to remain somewhat sane nowadays is to take time off and reflect. We know the phrase “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”, all to well. Although that may be true and we may be in our most productive years, that does not mean we should be forcing ourselves to always do something for the sake of doing something.

I for one have always been the type to get things done, never slack and always use my time wisely. I’ve been the logical,¬†vigorous and unstoppable one that scolded everyone around me to do the maximum and then some. I never took the time to just be. I always evaluated, planned, analysed. But, how do you live life that way? How can you enjoy the moment you are in, when you are already planning the next one, and the next one and the next one? You can’t.

But what happens when all logic leaves you and you start living in the moment? What happens when you can’t plan the next moment because you’re too fascinated by the one you’re already in? What happens when you can’t explain how you feel and there is no point in analyzing? What happens when you lose all control? It was all yellow.

You meet someone who shows you the world in a completely different perspective. You no longer feel the need to control everything around you, to analyze and rethink it. You just let it be. You let the moment shift you into a new, undiscovered dimension of pure tranquility. You listen to their heartbeat and it feels like nothing you ever felt before.

There is no way to predict anything, as you are fully living in the moment. You no longer worry about how things will turn out because you know things are exactly the way they should be. The outcome no longer matters because the present is too good to be missed.

They understand you in ways no one has before. They say more with their silence and presence than with their words. You see it in their eyes, and in that moment, you realize that fairy tales were meant to come true and wonderful things do happen to ordinary people. Maybe not in the way you imagined it, but better. It beats all your expectations and predictions. It outshines all of your images of how it should be. You never even imagined this and here it is, right in front of you. Would you want to miss this moment?
